Just got mine today. Ordered two sets. I have to say, similar to Xume adapters (same idea, different application)...these are great!

One thing I was disappointed in was the condition of the gels. Not that a few scratches is really going to make much difference, but they arrived new-in-box pretty scuffed up.

Spencer (the creator) addressed the issue of the gels on the Kickstarter page.

"We invested in some machinery which turned out to be much slower than anticipated, and didn't deliver the quality of gel for our standards. We had cut several thousand before realizing that the cleaning process was introducing rougher edges, as well as significant surface scars. So we had to ditch them all midway through the process and start over.

Thankfully the process has been corrected, and we're operating at full speed right now! But just to let you know, since I know many might be seeking for absolute perfection, that the gels you will be receiving are far from perfect, in that they don't look perfect. They are 100% functional, and our quality control is rejecting ones that don't meet our standards. Some might have a few small scratches or scars, but this will not effect the final quality of light they will give you.

We are improving the quality as we go, but we'll never be able to get it perfect due to the nature of working with plastic sheets that are easily scratched just by holding them. I'm sure you have all worked with gels and know how impossible it is to keep them perfect shiny all the time :)"

If you feel they are pretty scuffed up, try contacting them. I'm sure they'll send out new ones. Spencer is a nice guy and I'm sure he'll make things right.

Got my set last week. I like using it. Keep it on the flash though. Hard to put on. Had a few scratches on my gels but they do not affect quality of light.

Question for those that got theirs. Do your gel holders have a slit at the top to insert and remove gels? That's how they appear in the Kickstarter videos, but mine doesn't seem to have this slit. Instead, I have to stretch out the rubber gel holder to put the gels in the holder. Not a huge deal, though the slit looks a little more convenient. I guess the one I have is a little more secure, though, and the gels won't fall out if attached upside down.

Mine doesn't have the slit either. I believe the one in the video is one of the POC or the 2nd or 3rd revision. The design could have changed a bit for the final version.

Thanks! Hadn't seen that. I'm not an official backer as I purchased this only a few days ago (shipping was blazing fast!).

If this is the one you're talking about... https://www.cheetahstand.com …Arrives-p/cl-360combo.htm (external link) , doesn't look like it will.

The MagMod is rectangular and is meant for normal flashes.

Here it is with just the bulb, I thought it was more rectangular.

MagMod will not work with the Cheetah CL-180 Bare Bulb or Quantum Q Flash, but will work with the Cheetah V850 as it is a rectangular shaped flash head.

I am currently at WPPI running the booth with Spencer, and it has been received very well by many people.

The amount of light loss when using the grid is nothing more significant than that of the other brands currently being sold. It's inevitable - bump up the power to maintain intensity when stacking the grids. You are controlling the spread of light, not softening it with the grids.

This setup is solid.

Still waiting for the rumored beamer attachment for these. That will be sweet.

In the interim I wonder if mounting a fresnel lens in the gel holder would get the job done?

I think the biggest flash heads are the 600EX-RT and SB-910. The MagMod will fit these.

Here is a stress/stretch video - http://www.youtube.com …vjXTA&feature=c4-overview (external link)

Can you take some pictures and then hold the magnets up to your card and see if they screw up the files?

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.
