Wildlife photographer pleads guilty to violating Endangered Species Act![]()
I went on one of these workshops several years ago. Jim is a nice guy but there were some things that disturbed me, though nothing as extreme as what is described in the article. The main thing was feeding a caracara along the side of a busy road, and voiced my objections at the time. Also overuse of bird calls for extended lengths of time to bring in birds, which I also objected to. I didn't have the rehab experience I do now, and so allowed my questions to be dismissed and wound up going along with it in spite of my concerns. Of course now I have zero tolerance for harassment like this. I look at it as a learning experience and use those photos as an illustration of ethical issues with wildlife photography. I know other people have brought up his behavior before. It's a real shame that he chose such unethical methods but I'm glad something is finally being done about it.
