I am in the market for a new camera body and am looking hard at the 5D mkiii.....I am seeing prices ranging from 1999.00 all the way to 3300.00 for the body only. Is there something I am missing here? These are all new cameras with USA warrantees. Is there a difference in these bodies that would make them worth more or less, or are there just people who have no idea of how to shop the internet (perhaps me?) Thanks for any input on this matter!

$1999.00 for a new 5D3 is really low. I suspect it's a scam site. Care to share the link?

I tend to only buy from proven places, Adorama and B&H.

Buy from known dealers with actual reputations: B&H, Amazon, Adorama, etc. or look to Canon's refurb program to see if they have any in stock there.

m.Ibcart.com lists it as $1999.00 for a brand new body with warrantee....they also offer lots of combos that look too good to be true as well.

The above site takes you to AJRICHIE.com which is the actual site that is claiming the offer.

Anyone trying to sell you a 5D MkIII for $1999 is going to take your money and not give you the camera you're expecting to get.

AJRICHIE.com doesn't, actually, exist at this time. It shows up as "Under Construction". This is further indication that you're looking at a scam.

I believe you are correct about it being a scam....I did a google search on them and got a site that offered reviews and feedback. There were a ton of 4 and 5 star ratings (obviously paid endorsements) and several 1 star ratings that warned of scams and the old bait and switch being used here. I will save my money and wait to get one from somebody reputable. I guess my dad was right when he said "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!"

For the body only, you can occasionally find a price of $3000.00 Below that it's not legit. I would only buy from newegg, amazon, BH, and check Best Buy online. A local camera store matched when Best Buy had it for $3,000.

I totally agree with you but a few days ago I see a 5D3 with 24-105 lens on E-Bay going
for $3,400. I checked this guys feedback and I see at least 10 positive feedbacks on this
same Item. I'm thinking $3,400 is a to good to be true deal.

No, not really. If you know exactly what you need, and don't need to actually talk with anyone it's perfectly fine.

The price I got for my 5DIII was the lowest at BB. A local shop I do business with matched it so I bought it from them.

Was it a Mark II or a Mark III? If it's a Mark II, that is not a good price.

You can also check http://www.canonpricewatch.com/ (external link) to compare the
prices at some of the stores, as well as check their Deals Section.
