It looks as if it hasn't been used. The seller is asking $800 firm. Sigma website shows the suggested retail at $899. Is it worth the risk of no warranty for a little over a $100? What would you guys do? Thanks for any input.

And I really am not trying to sell you mine as I'd much prefer to sell it local and would prefer not having to ship it to BC (unless you have a 15-85 to trade!), but I'm selling my very good copy for $675 OBO.

You can get them new now for $899 just about anywhere. So $800 used, even for a minty copy, seems a little much to me? - DAA Yes, $800 seems a bit over-priced to me. "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

DreDaze happy with myself for not saying anything stupid More info | Feb 28, 2014 12:18 | #6 i'd ask the seller if he has the original receipt, and where he bought it...if he's got a receipt from an authorized seller, and includes it in the sale(or a copy) than you should be able to still have the warranty on the lens DAA wrote in post #16724415 FWIW... The Tamron really doesn't bring anything to the table over my Sigma from 150 to 500, but, you know, it goes to six!

I looked at it today, and I don't think it has been used, looks absolutely new. The person that bought it died and the sister is selling it. I'm thinking it may be a grey market purchase as it has a Gentec International 10 yr warranty card with it. But no receipt!

Mar 01, 2014 10:02 | #12 I had the 150-500 and sold it for about $600. I think $800 is too high for used, even if rarely used, still not new, and no warranty. Instead, I'd throw $300 more in the pot (if you can) and get the Tamron 150-600. I always felt that the Sigma was a little soft, especially at 400-500 range. What I've seen of the Tamron, it seems to have better IQ than the 150-500, and 100mm more reach. Just my 2 cents. All I want is just a little more than I'll ever have.
