Feb 28, 2014 20:19 | #17 The law states the boats cannot approach them closer than 100 yards. However, if the whales approach us, the rule is to turn off the motor and stay put. That is really when the fun begins as I think the whales are very social. The calves are very curious & always come over for a look. Most of the time, mom is fine with that. I have even seen her lift the baby with her nose so it can get a better look at us. Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Feb 28, 2014 20:53 | #20 When they are up at the raft I do not take photos. I hang off the side & enjoy them only inches away from me. No photos can capture the feeling that I get being up close & personal with them. Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Yes, we will be there next year; it is amazing at how many more active whales we have seen over the years. Used to be that we were happy if we saw a couple of tails & blows.
