Eeek, wouldn't want that. Must have to stay a certain distance away from them in water I guess.

I'm Preston & I pretend to know what I'm doing but I really just wing it.

The law states the boats cannot approach them closer than 100 yards. However, if the whales approach us, the rule is to turn off the motor and stay put. That is really when the fun begins as I think the whales are very social. The calves are very curious & always come over for a look. Most of the time, mom is fine with that. I have even seen her lift the baby with her nose so it can get a better look at us. :)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I prefer Pachelbels lesser known work, Canon in L and the 99 cent menu club.

When they are up at the raft I do not take photos. I hang off the side & enjoy them only inches away from me. No photos can capture the feeling that I get being up close & personal with them. :)

We see more Canadians there than anyone else..... all running away from the winter weather. :)

We have noticed that.

I don't know about getting too close, the fear of whale snot runs high in me.

I have been a victim of whale blow a couple of times; didn't bother me at all.

Pretty cool. Yes, we will be there next year; it is amazing at how many more active whales we have seen over the years. Used to be that we were happy if we saw a couple of tails & blows. Now the show is quite incredible. :)
