and the other wo.... 131mm @f4 (INVALID EMAIL) and 200mm @f4
are these results ok am i being too picky?

Hi boy, it´s perfect !!

Think that for the DOF when you are near to the target, the general rule it´s to have 1/3th of the DOF behind the center AF plane and around 2/3th of the DOF after !!

Don´t be worry and enjoy. Take photos ....

yea it looks fine. look at what my 50mm did at 1.8
I did it 3times to and checked all my settings and setup all the same

HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

i focused right on the black line between the s and h

Compare that to my 70-200 IS @ 130 F/2.8.

Its with Canon right now, along with my 20D and 17-85 IS.

Philby.. you won't see it look any better my friend. It's right where you want it.

05X... your 50mm is very off. looks like your center AF point is slightly above the target zone though but close enough to the bar for the sensor to pick it up. But your chart looks like the 10mm line was the sweet spot. That's bad front focus.

thank you all for looking and replying ,i thought that the focusing was meant to be 2/3 in front and 1/3 back thats why i was concerned thanks for pointing out it should be the reverse

Rule of thumb: As far you go, more DOF with the same aperture.
So, near is less and back it´s more.
