Howdy Dean,

Now, just pull your crosshairs on the rocky outcrop at the south end of your image. That's the spot to be but down on the rocks below :-). The sunset was just a tree away from hitting right on top of the lighthouse.

It think it's worth a try tomorrow evening. The sunset was right on schedule at 7:48pm. For those who are interested in shooting tomorrow evening, I'd guess meeting at the parking lot at 6pm would allow getting down to the beach and experimenting before shooting the sunset from around 7:15pm to 8pm. The parking lot is posted to be ok until 1hr after sunset.

Heading back home for dinner!

Fantastic news. I think I'm in for the shoot tomorrow evening as well then. 6pm it is.
Whoever else wants to join us is welcome. The more the merrier.

And NSSA in the morning in HB, south of the pier. It's gonna be a fun Saturday!

In the meantime, enjoy this Mustang.

Hey dean, any chance you can turn on your GPS tomorrow and track coordinates?(unless those coords are accurate) Would like to find these caves and shoot them another day.

I'm going to Manhattan beach early AM, just for the nice light.... Unless someone can recommend a better place for sunrise. Itching like hell to shoot.

I'll turn on GPS. But I don't think we'll go to the caves as it stands.

Why don't you come down to HB for surfing? I'll be there around 7:00

Maybe I'll do sunrise there. My wife works so I can't stay long.

Howdy Dean,

6pm meet-up at the north-end of the Pelican Cove parking lot and then hike down the switchback trail to the south-end of the beach sounds like a plan! We'll see just what can be made of this style of sunset with the combo of ocean, rocky beach, cliffs, lighthouse etc. Look for my blue Ford Flex :D.

Head towards Santiago Peak for sunrise, the smoke makes for a nice effect!
