after reviewing yesterdays photos i gotta get a little bit closer today. Still too much cropping for my tastes. See ya guys there, about to head out.

Same here. Too much cropping.

What time's the air show? I may try to make it in time for that.

You guys make surf photography look so relaxing. I got to do some shooting while sitting/lying on the ground recently as well(it wasn't very relaxing).

Nice. :)

A bit soft with the 2x for sure. But fun to play with.

If you think a 300 f2.8 + 2x is soft then you're definitely not going to be happy with the 150-600.

Here's a 300 + 2x from the other day while on the subject, one of the Marine helicopters on it's way to pick up the water bucket(or whatever it's called) to fight the wildfires.

Heck. Could be my not knowing how to use it. Or it could be the distance I was from the surfers.
But yeah, most of my shots came out fairly soft (not unusable, mind you).

But compare Butchie's crisp shot above to this. Sequence (which is also quite a bit cropped).

NSSA sequence.

No caves were harmed :)

We only went down to the cove. Lighting was pretty meh until maybe 5 mins before sunset. So I snapped a few shots of the lighthouse silhouetted against sunset and then we headed back the steep hike.
I kinda don't think I'll be bothering to go back there any time soon.

I'll post my shots after I PP.

Dean... With TC's it's two folds; camera settings and technique... I gave you a little bit of camera info... So now it's practice and technique... Out of the 238 shots I took yesterday, I'd say 200 were tack sharp... However, I'm pretty selective on my final selection of images... So out of the 200, I kept about 60 which will be processed and archived... I'll select 4 or 5 to post, including the 'Orange Crush' capture... Hehe.. More to come...

:)
