The A/F on the 7D won't talk with the Canon 400 f/5.6 when I use my Canon 1.4X on there...

I actually tested the AF capabilities of stacked TC's back in 2010... Hehehhehe... Center point AF was the only thing that was able to lock-on to a target... The tree was about 40-50 yards from my backyard... Check out the images below:

The Setup: XTi + 70-200 2.8L IS (Mark 1) + Kenko Pro 1.4x and 2x (stacked):

^^ Back in 2010 I had the 100-400 very briefly and it was a hit/missed. I ended up returning for a 300 F4L IS + 1.4xII and never looked back. It was a good lens but the push/pull zoom was not my style. ^^

Hm. More explanation please? Not sure what those do exactly....

You know, I'm not loving the push-pull. But I think I will keep playing with this lens for now and practicing my BIF type shots. I do want the 400/5.6 eventually. I find I never use the 100-300 range on this thing (so far).

Took some shots again with the lens tonight in the backyard and got a lot more keepers. Practice, practice, practice...

Photos coming up in a few.

Not the best lighting, I know.
But it was fairly sharp, and the sequence was kinda interesting.

That arch rock at Corona Del Mar. You guys seem to be shooting it from the opposite side that I'm used to going to.
I usually shoot this stuff:

IMG_3887.jpg (external link) by Puckman2012 (external link), on Flickr

You're on the side closest to the jetty/Wedge then. Down the street there's a road that you walk down to for Arch Rock. Check it out on Google maps.
