yeah, it was the 400 2.8 IS I but I wouldnt use IS for much of anything so I am eyeing the 400 2.8L II non IS. But really I need to not look so hard at this lens and get the 300/4 IS that I have been looking at.

My vote would be for the 400/f5.6 non-IS, personally. That's what I'm jonesing for. And the pricetag is quite accessible. Why the 300?

Also, first quick process to tide us over (lots of keepers from tonights shoot!)

With the 300 I can put a 1.4x to get to 420mm at 5.6 and I get the advantage of having a 300mm with IS as well. More versatility for me.

rezcar and Puckman, nice shots from Corona Del Mar...from the sunset to arch rock.

Did you happen to notice if there was much in the way of critters in the tide pools worth shooting?

One more of my granddaughter at f1.8. About that iso and shutter speed...because of the lighting, I thought I rolled the dial to 'auto iso' and didn't notice until I got home that it wound up at iso 50 instead. That made the shutter speed much too slow of course so I only had a couple of keepers.

Sometimes I a decent shot despite my best efforts not to it seems.
