turn off long exposure noise reduction, guessing that's what write mode you're talking about. 20 second exposure, 20 second write.... does that sound like it?

Nope just the normal write to card, I already have Long NR off. These things travel so fast...barely enough time to make a wish lol.

Thanks! This one was 22 shots or so at 20 sec. each. Total was close to 100 shots but the meteors show up better with less star trailing. Wish I could've captured the one that got away, at first I thought someone had fired a flare gun or something.

I lied, total was 275 shots. Here's a link to the video since I can't figure out how to embed it here from flickr

Once I get more comfortable with this, I hope to find a place without planes, trains, and automobiles. And people and their flashlights.

I'm going to try pv one of these days, I've seen photos del cerro park and the milky way. Probably anything south facing the beach has a chance, since the light pollution is coming from the opposite direction (corona del mar, san pedro, laguna, pv, dana point)

anyhow, I'm pretty much done shooting scapes this year, booked till the end of the year with random stuff.

Toward the end of the summer I was up in Morro Bay and was all set to get a Milky Way over Morro rock but I was a few days off and had a crescent moon right in the middle of the Milky Way.

I'm guessing because you(Charlie) posted this it just reminded me of the Release the Dogs episode to Two and a Half Men.

The milky way is more visible in the summer, just FYI. I'd like to shoot the sunken city at night. Sneak in, everybody else does it!
