Let's do it!

Dates are prolly gonna be picky for all of us. I'd like to give it a shot though, but since I've already got the other trip in the works, this May have to wait a month.
Also, I wonder if it's doable as a day trip. I'm not a huge fan of camping :)

Debbie Gibson or Tiffany??

1) you just showed your age there. Doubt this kid knows either of those names.
2) definitely Tiffany.

I'm down for some Joshua Tree. Dates are a little picky but I might be able to figure some time out. When are you guys thinking?

Spring Break time...:) No work for the next 10 days. Going to be in Newport Beach so if anyone wants to shoot some surfing or sunsets, I am right on the sand with nothing to do. If your in the area and are in need of a refreshing cold drink, I will be happy to help out.

I may take you up on that. I finally have a free weekend coming up and it's been a few months since I shot in Newport. It's the easiest and closest beach to me. Always enjoy th sunsets there.

I'm free this Sunday!!! Was thinking of going up to Mt. Wilson in the morning to catch the sunrise, but I'll be available for most of the day... How about the Korean Friendship Bell in San Pedro... Hehehe... Chad was just there a few weeks ago for basketball shots... Food for thought...

:D

PS. Joshua Tree sounds like it would be a neat adventure... Haven't been there since 2007...

Yeah. I could do something this weekend for sure. Newport, Korean Bell, just say the word.
How early do you get up to get to Mt. Wilson at sunrise?

^ Dean... The sunrise for this Sunday is scheduled roughly at 6:27am... I'd probably leave my house at least at 5am to get up there... Hehehe...

I'll have all my new equipment by this weekend (actually most of it is arriving today), so I'd really like to go out and try everything out.
Also, hoping to get some tips for Panoramas from the experts. Was thinking that Grand Canyon stuff is perfect for panos, but I've only tried panos once or twice before and am not really sure what the best way to shoot one is.

I'm definitely interested in a Joshua Tree trip. Also, I can't find my Tokina 11-16 lens anywhere in my house, checked all the bags. Last I remember using it was at the beach, I hope I didn't leave it behind.

uhgh, that would be horrible. Hopefully you are able to find it. thats a fantastic lens.

to switch gears

My wife had heard me talking to my buddy about my new YN flash and how I liked it better than the 430ex because of the camera control over the settings so she purchased a 2nd one for me but then told me that I definately had to sell the 430 or trade it in. Im gonna see if I can swap it for some umbrellas or softbox at the local shop.

I've never made out to Joshua Tree yet. I lived in SoCal since 97 and have spent a lot time out in the desert offroading(hence the screen name-I had a full size Dodge Ram rock crawler). I've been putting off spending out there until I get my Durango rock crawler done(I actually bought all the big stuff for the build 6yr ago then work got too slow for a couple of years so never got starting on fabrication or buying the 2k worth of all the littler things I'd still need).

I hope you get some clouds while at the GC Dean. The forecast was for partly cloudy for my trip last year but got clear blue skies(better than grey). Also, I believe sunrises(the first look out point is a good spot) are generally better from inside of the park do to the angle the canyon runs. The golden hour is probably generally better during sunset though, but it also depends on where you are and the time of the year. Get yourself an app like Photographer Field Tools(I think this one is Android only-I used it to plan my up coming Scripps Pier sunset shots), The Photographer's Ephemeris or similar.

Edit: Oh, forgot about the night shooting stuff. Google Sky Map or similar is really handy for the sky shots also one of these (external link) can be handy for planning Milky Way shots.

I honestly really do. She said she felt bad because she was ordering something for herself. So i checked the order this morning, she bought some new converse. Not even a 1/4 of the price of the flash. I guess im gonna have to help with the laundry this weekend. lol
