^ That's one of the true beauties of the Lee's Bellows Hood Lens... It has two built-in sliders to stack an assortment of various density filters... I blame/thank Rick Rose (Zerimar) for showing me its versatility... Heheheh...

I like this one better than mine. Question: In what order do you stack the filters? I had my 0.6 closer to the lens, and the big stopper over that. Is that the correct way? Or would you put the big stopper closer to the lens?
Also, now that I've played with the 0.6 soft, I really wish I had gotten the hard. The transition is hard to spot on the soft, in sunset conditions.

Yup. Love the Lee system. And got myself a step up ring yesterday (which I haven't tried yet), so I can stick my filters on the 70-200 as well.
The lens hood/holder thingie is the next Lee item on my list.

I also saw yesterday that Lee now has something called the Little Stopper. 6 stop ND...I think that may be VERY useful in sunset type situations. The Big stopper can be a bit too much if the light is already fading (as I found out yesterday, with my underexposed shots, hehe).

Thanks, that was a three shot exposure put together in PS-6. Wish we could make Sunday but have a dinner date with friends here in Lancaster, CA and HB is a bit too far of a drive to do both in one day. We are up to shooting most all weekends and look forward to a meetup.:)

Looks like you're well on your way with that Strobist info. These puppy shots are pretty sweet. I have a hell of a time photographing my pup as he's black. Makes exposure tricky, specially with flash.

its certainly a decent start. I get my 2nd flash on friday so I might try a 2 flash system with the umbrellas. But overall I want to get a handle of the single flash first.

Dean... From what I've been told, the Big Stopper should always be closest to the lens... With regards to using hard vs soft GND's will depend on the scenery... With a horizon that doesn't have too many obstacles (ie. buildings, structures, plantlife, etc), a hard edge (in whatever density) usually works best... If there are lots of obstacles, then the soft edge will usually work better...

So heading to GC, I suspect a hard edge GND may draw out skies a bit more since the horizon is relatively unobstructed... Food for thought...

Yeah. The horizon on my sunset/beach shots would definitely call for a hard edge filter. Same for the GC. I suppose it's good to have the soft one too (I'm thinking for Sedona, buttes and the such).
Btw, do you find you use the 0.9 or the 0.6 more? After playing with 0.6, I'm thinking 2 stops is not enough difference between the average SoCal blue skies and a brightly lit ground.

I'd say I've used my 0.9 (soft/hard edge) density more than the 0.6 version... But it'll depend on the scenery and how creative I want to be...

:)

Hot Damn! ImaginePixel those are awesome...

Thanks PixelPusher. Yours as well... different lighting is all.

Butch, awesome shot of the pier man. Was this about the same spot as we took surfing shots? Can't wait for the US Open again.
