From another forum board

"This is the results of sending my new Tamron 150-600 lens and my 7D body into Tamron because of my stated issue with poor to no tracking in Aiservo on my Canon 7D body. Three days after receiving my equipment, I received a phone call from Pat Simonetti Director Technical & Customer Service/Distribution Tampon USA, INC. I had been corresponding with Pat and he fully understood my issue. Pat informed me on two different days he personally tested my lens and 7D body in the Aiservo mode shooting BIF. He also had another 7D body for testing this issue. He stated that the based on the images he took there was no issue with how the Aiservo setting was working on BIF. Pat fully understood my concerns and I saw no reason in being argumentative with him. I am really disappointed that the images he shot were not sent to me along with my equipment. Thursday I tested everything again. I had a bright sunny day and started by shooting moving cars at different angles and directions. Trust me I am not new to shooting in Aiservo and BIF. I live four miles from L&D 14 on the Mississippi River and spend many hours photographing Eagles and other wildlife. I took 514 images that day and it was again proven to me that Tampon has a issue with certain Canon bodies. I can honestly say my keeper images were next to nothing even when shooting the cars. My shutter speeds were between!/1000 and 1/2000 at F 7.1 Center point focus. Aiservo mode. I concentrated on shooting between 300 and 600mm. With these exact same settings, my Canon 6D yields vary good images, and vary poor from my 7D when shooting BIF in the AIservo mode, unless I am constantly pumping the focus button. I think my 6D images speak for themselves.

I'm really not sure what the purpose of this post is. Is this your personal experience?

There has been numerous reports from owners of 150-600 of the lens not working properly in Ai servo mode. Well a owner sent his camera and lens to be evaluated to Tamron USA, and there findings is there is nothing wrong.

Many have been waiting to hear Tamrons position on this issue, as to buy or not buy this lens owning certain Camera's bodies of Canon

It appears it works just fine with the 6D, but not with the 7D and 1Div in Ai servo

There have been numerous reports of alien abductions and Elvis sightings on other boards too.... I really don't get the point of this post.

Well I don't either. But what ya gonna do? Its kind of strange I know of 2 people that have 7D's and they seem to be getting along quite well with it. Go figure.

Elvis! Where? ;)

Read through this thread and see for yourself what owners of the 150-600 have been saying

https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1340733

Additionally have a look at this thread

Grizz I know a few 7d owners also who have the 7D and there still shots are wonderful, but the issue is in tracking to and from and from and to in ai servo, and that's where all the complaints have been reported..

By the way you put up some nice shots in the 150-600 thread.

It's no secret that Tamron and Tokina have less than acceptable QA. Their number of duds is of note.

Yes I have read the threads at Freds :) What I was commenting on was the 2 people I know and at Least 2 people here at POTN have the 7D and the Tamron and don't have AI servo issues. I tried a friends 7D and it works just like my 60D. It will track an object While using AI servo. What it does have a problem with is when moving to an object that is a large distance from where you are currently. Then it just does nothing, No hunting...nothing, does the same on the 60D, but I don't find that to be a problem at all. All it takes is a bump of the focus to get it to start again.

I just find it curious that it works for some and not others. That's the strange part. I'm not saying folks are not having the problem but it seems not all.

Thanks for your comments about my images. :)

. . . I received a phone call from Pat Simonetti Director Technical & Customer Service/Distribution Tampon USA, INC.

Was that misspelling intentional, or was it actually an honest mistake?
In either case, it did make me chuckle!

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Have a 6D and a 7D. Since I planned to use the Tamron with the 7D, looks like I'll pass on purchasing this lens until this issue is resolved. Disappointing.

Tamrons reaction to problems with this lens reminds me of Canons initial reaction to focus problems with the 1D Mark III. Canon sales were deeply affected by that. Some of the people complaining about the Tamron are excellent photographers and I don't doubt what they are saying at all. In the long run this denial of a problem can only hurt Tamron.
