Dear Board,

It's been a long drab and dreary Winter and all indications say that it isn't over yet! However, I've spent some time in a local park looking for a flash of color here and there to brighten the mood.

Fortunately, every day is a good day for a Cardinal and they always manage to oblige me.

I wouldn't mind seeing that particular splash of color in my yard again. They are few and far between at my feeders. Very pretty shots!

Dear SJC,

The Missus and I broke down and bought a couple of new bird feeders yesterday. We have had one in the front yard for quite some time and it definitely attracts song birds and the occasional cardinal or blue jay.

We decided to move everything to the back yard though as the small birds are terribly sloppy eaters that seem to spill more than they eat. I'd rather not have rye, corn, and milo growing in my front yard. We put up a finch feeder and several suet cakes in the backyard but so far nothing has discovered them?

I know in a few days they'll find them and hopefully they will provide some opportunities for pictures. Even if I don't get many pictures I know I'll enjoy watching them out of the kitchen window.

Bare down and stay warm, I'll bet you have at least another 6 weeks of Win-tah left up your way! My wife is from Cow Hampshire and I take every advantage to mock her accent. ;)

Regards,

Tim Murphy :D

Cardinal are such beautiful birds. I love how the color stands out in the 1st shot.
