....in your own home???

Hi All

Just looking for personal experiences of ways other than simply(?) normal hooks in the walls for hanging in such fixed places. I have looked and there are various brands & profiles of rail based systems i.e. the sort where the rail is fixed abutted against the coving and either rods or cords are latched into the rail freely along its length...............this being quite versatile even at home for making changes to the sizes & positioning of the framed prints.

However, there is a wide choice of brands and as far as I can tell all quite expensive having seen the Stas system costing >£11 per 150cm length of rail!

TIA for the 'how do you hang your pictures...' and for those with rails which brand and how good is it???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

With a plasterboard clad modern house, the old, nail based hook system is my preferred method. I'd find any rail based system too ugly. We have long since established where we want framed images and where we don't.

Hi Richard

Thanks for the insight, yes I know what you mean re 'where you want them' but I am looking at what some versatility may offer

As for the rail systems ~ at least one I spotted appears to be quite low impact visually and indeed either comes in white (would match the coving/ceiling colour) or with a paintable surface. And abutted against the coving or the ceiling (where there is no coving) would IMO not, famous last words, look that intrusive.

As for the types of walls ~ we have a mixture of solid and plasterboard/strawmit.

I have one piece that I made, that is a "rail" type system, its very idustrial looking which is the look I was going for. It is in my office, my wife took one look and said she was not going to allow something like that outside of the office area  so outside of "my room" we go with the traditional nail in the wall. We repaint every 3-4 years and thats when we do any major rework of art (changing sizing and positioning), otherwise if we want to change something we either reuse the existing frame or go with the same size.
