I know Amazon has been generous in the past with giving buyers back the difference on an item previously bought in the event of a significant price drop.

My wife bought me a 6D for Valentine's Day from Amazon and it has now dropped $100 just under three weeks later. Would we be able to get Amazon to match and get us back the difference? Being a Prime member, does that help our cause?

Thanks in advance for advice and input, this is kind of new territory for us.

Did you buy it from amazon and have it fulfilled by amazon? If it was bought from another seller, you have to contact the seller. This only happened to me once- bought something from amazon directly (a kindle) it dropped a week later and they gave me a $20 credit. Not sure what the time frame is for the price match- it wouldn't hurt to send them an email. Their customer service is very good. If they don't match you can return it within 30 days and purchase again- it will cost you the shipping back.

It was indeed from Amazon direct. Did you shoot them an email when this happened to you?

If I remember right Amazon's policy is 7 days from date of delivery, but it doesn't cost anything to ask.

Give them a call. They are generally very helpful.

I've already put about 800 shots on it, but everything except the body and DPP disc is unopened. Wouldn't sending it back be pretty questionable?

It would be for me. I would try to get the difference in a gift card or something though.

Amazon has, on items it sells and fulfills, a standard 30-day satisfaction policy. Among the reasons they offer for return, is "found item at a lower price." I would try calling them and asking whether they would credit/refund the difference versus your returning and re-ordering the camera at a lower price. I'm sure they will work with you, if not the first person you talk to, then politely ask for a more senior customer service agent.

If you're within the return policy I would think that alone would get them to reflect the difference.

I got credit of around $50 when I bought my 6D. I sent them an email with order number and they replied back with the credit note confirmation. It was pretty fast process for me.
