Ok so I know there are a few of these threads.. but reading through them I shoot a different style...horrible... hah.. no just kidding on that.

anyway im waiting on the 7dM2 list.... I have $2200 in my hands (well in bank as bonus came in)...

my t2i works somewhat for me but my needs are higher ISO.
My shooting is EVERYTHING.
Kinds indoors, flowers, dogs. outdoor soccer (u14 and u8), outdoor street hockey (ultra horrible lighting I shoot 85mm @f1.8 / 1/500 and ISO 1600 any higher and horrible)

We have added indoor MMA for the kids and I couldnt do anything worth while the other day.

so my two choices I am leaning towards
1. 70d / sigma bigma
2. wait for 7dm2 if coming out by end of March

now I know BigMa wont do me greatness indoors but I also am looking for more reach at travel soccer as the field for my oldest is 120yards.

I also tried video with my t2i (magic lantern says I have taken 1040 videos and I dont remember keeping 1) and no great results as people walking around while talking throws out of focus....

looking for what you think. My thoughts are to start with #2 and on April 1 if nothing stated for 7dm2 then go out and buy #1

now with that I will throw out one other idea I had...
70d for video and a bit better outdoor performance as iso and the sort and also getting the 1dm3 for the indoor needs. but what I do not know is simple...

is the 1dm3 ISO better than the 70d? im sceptical of the iso 3200 and extendable to 6400 (is that actually usable)....

if the 1dm3 seems an even better option and dont get the 70d I would do that. I dont NEED video.. would be nice but not needed.

Please help me get my mind back on track.
Thanks
Jeff

I'd wait a couple of weeks and see if the 7D MKII is announced. If it isn't, then you should consider the 70D. I don't think the 1DMk III is going to get you high enough ISO indoors. If there is any way you can stretch your budget a bit the 1D MkIV would give you higher ISO performance and would be an excellent camera for what you want to do, IMHO. You can find decent used ones on ebay.

ISO perforance of the 70d and 1DIII isn't that far different. 70D is still useable at 6400, but you will need to process. I typically don't take the 1DIII past 3200. The noise from the 1DIII isn't as jarring as the 70D (which itself is much smoother than the 7D noise), but the 70d jpgs will look better. AF performance is pretty similar, though I like some of the ways the 70d is set up better.

good stuff.. so then if the 7dm2 doesnt come out.. would a 1dm4 be better used than the 70d?

that is a good choice... now it will cost me about the same as the 7dm2 price or 70d and a lens... but if it is that much better I would consider it...

I think the 1DM4 would be better, but for what they sell for used now, you are getting close to the 5D3 prices which is also a possibility.

Was just about to ask this.

Although with a 6D you'll be a bit short on the telephoto side of things, you can throw a Tamron 70-300 VC on there and be more or less in budget.

Sure used 1DMK4 has stellar performances compared to the 70D. For soccer is a killer machine, AF is amazing fast, AUTO-ISO in poor light is a plus, and shooting even on dual card, RAW on CF, JPG on SD, i got 10FPS.
With BIGMA is a great combo. Sadly EF-S lens are not fitting on APS-H so u should sell the 55-250.
Yet even used, price is higher than 6D actually, that is FF and new, so in theory could handle high iso better, fitting ur budget.
1D3 is great, but over 3200 iso not better than the 70D.
it's always big decision, stay with cropped and keep old lenses, or the big jump :D

In your positions I think I'd grab a 70D used, then when the 7d2 comes along sell the 70D and pick up the 7d2. You'll lose less than $100 and get the better ISO and video performance right now.

yeah that is a good thought... but I cant find a used one worth buying used.. even new they are not that badly priced $1k or less... where used on flebay is pulling 850-950 thus not knowing where it is coming from and true condition... Id rather spend the extra for new.

Buy the 70d/bigma, or new tamron 150-500. Save until the 70d2 comes out and sell the 70d and buy the 2. Now you have the camera you want and the lens you want without ever having to wait on anything, and like you just pointed out you will lose only 100-200 bucks on the 70d, which is much cheaper than renting until that time.

I would definately consider the 6D. Its low light performance and bang for the buck are second to maybe the 5DIII and the 1DMKIV, both a lot more money.
Great low light performance, not bad at action either ,If you can just use center point AF. Ive seen some very good Bird in Flight shots and they move pretty quickly.
I've been considering the 1DMKIV too and its performance is legendary, but you pay for it as well. Just in the past week or so I've looked at the 6D, and it holds up pretty well.

ill readup on it... the only thing that is still drawing me to 70d is simple... video auto focus....

o just did a quick google... ummm $1800 for body alone is out of my price range as I wanted to get a lens also (unless it was the 7dm2 then i would consider)...
