I purchased my Canon 7D in Sept '09 and today I took this shot of the sky to look for dust spots.
I could not see any spots, maybe my settings are wrong for a test like this.

It does look like a test-shot at f/2.8.

To get the screen he has shown you, use auto-levels in Photoshop. You might want to try something like the Rocket Blower to try blowing off the specks, but if you can't see them at f/32, then you probably can wait on doing a more thorough cleaning.
