Was unable to catch this guy in flight; light was pretty bad so my SS speed was too slow. 70-200 w/ 2(x) tele on a 60D

LVMoose Moose gets blamed for everything. More info | Mar 03, 2014 17:17 | #6 Rocky Rhode wrote in post #16732122 Thank you for the nice comments; not one of the BIF shots came out giving me a new found respect for you folks who do it right. Shooting hummers in flight is a little different from shooting other birds (in my opinion). I sit close to the feeder/flowers (within 5' with my 70-200), have the camera near my face, and wait. Silent mode, usually single shot AF, center point. When they drink from a feeder, they often take a sip, back off for a moment, then go in for more. I aim to where I think they'll back off to, so all I have to do is make a minor adjustment, focus and shoot. When they're feeding from flowers, you just have to follow their movements a little more.
