I am putting togeth a photo album for my wife from vacation. I have done these before but never tried to go for the scrapbook look. This one I am looking to get more creative with. When I used to scrapbook with my mom long time ago, one method for attaching the image to the page was to make a small 45 degree slit in the main page and slide the corners of the image into them. I am looking for a way to have this kind of look in Photoshop.

I have found some brushes that mimic the corner tabs/tape and thats great for some pages. If anyone has suggestions on a way to do this, or an idea of what to google that would be great. I am at work right now and thought of this on the drive in so I have no way to play around with the idea till late tonight, so thought I would get the ball rolling so I am not starting at ground zero tonight.

Thanks in advance to anyone with ideas. Also if you have any other suggestions for ways to make the images look like they are stuck to the paper I would love to hear them. I have another 5-6 books to make when this ones done.

I like the effects you can do with NIK plugins.
They have a lot of options and can lock in these effects for reproduction.

Head over to deviant art and browse through the free actions there. I havent been lately, but there were lots of free actions to create all sorts of effects.

I found that site last night (I had been there a long time ago and some how had forgotten about it). I will be taking a look there tonight to see if I can find something like what I described. It did take forever to find a basic corner tab that was not all "artsy" last night lol.

A note on the Nik plug in's is there a specific one I should be looking at? I ventured to the Nik site and nothing jumped out at me for what I was looking for.

This set is $5 which is not bad however I dont so much want the frame aspect of it, just the corners. Any suggestions how to do that on my own?

Yes, you can design a brush to look like the corner you wish and save it as a brush preset. The downside is you would have to rotate it for each corner. The upside is you can scale it and have any color you wish to use.

Yea just gotta get the look right, figured would save myself the trouble if I could find a pre designed brush that did what I wanted.

 your giving me to much credit here lol. Its my plan tonight, to try and make one, I have searched as much as the firewall at work will let me and have yet to come away with what I want. I did find some youtube videos that might help but have to wait to watch them at home.

You'll find out it's really easy to make brushes in PS. Just start out with a white background layer, grab a hard brush at 100% opacity and start drawing a design. Once you have it the way you like, grab the square selection tool and draw a selection around your design and then go to "Edit>Define Brush Preset", give your new brush a name, click Ok. Now go into your brush drop-down list and find your new brush!

Here's a real cheesy stuffed corner brush I made just a minute ago applied to this photo!

And here's a link to thousands of PS brushes for you to explore (A compilation of externally linked websites with brushes) >>click (external link) <<

That looks darn close to what I want to do. Ok so one more question I have a gradient fill for background color on the page with several images that will get the corners tucked. Is there a way with the brush to erase the corner of the image while applying the "cut" line and shadow

Yes, more than one way. I would use a layer mask for each photo, which I'm assuming will each be on their own layers. Add a blank layer above the photo layers and place your corners where you want them. Now go back to each photo layer mask and mask out the corners and you won't have to erase any part of the images, which is way more forgiving than erasing parts of your images.

So we are looking at, from bottom to top in the layers pallet :

Gradient layer background
Layers with photos and masks
A layer on top for the corner brush

Alright that is kinda what I was thinking, I was hoping I cuold make the brush have the mask built in but that is probably going past what brushes are ment to do.

Yep, that would have to be a solid brush that would have to match perfectly the background color it was to be stamped on to work.
