Bryan seems reasonably pleased with the lens. He asserts, that the long end is around 570mm.

Soon as it's in stock I'm buying this and selling my 300mm 2.8 IS.

I so wanted this lens but not available.

It takes a lot to please Bryan, with a 3rd party lens. This review is quite positive from him. :)

Indeed. And looking at the 300mm 2.8 IS w/ 2xIII compared to the Tamron the difference is very close:

Which for someone who needs 600mm and cannot afford the big whites this lens is an amazing value for it's price.

I want darnit. Get back into stock sheesh.

I'm waiting for someone to take him to task about

"and the 600mm focal length setting has a very narrow field of view that brings your subjects in very close – incredibly close "

By pointing out that the focal length of the lens actually doesn't cause the subject to move closer to you.

I would love to see a 50-500 OS comparison. I agree about the 150-500 comments, I had one or two in the past, and wasn't pleased with them. However the 50-500 design/IQ has always been very comparable to the 100-400. I expect all 3 are very close in everyday usage (100-400L, 50-500 OS, 150-600).

i do think it's interesting that it's the first time i've seen him note that the 150-500OS he tested came from the batch at lensrentals.com...which seemed to be a big time bad early batch, with nearly half of the lenses failing on him...
