Finally got around to creating my website.

I used Weebly to make it and found it pretty intuitive. A couple of people have said that the font looks a little pixelated, I can't really see it my end and I'm not sure what to do to alter it to be honest.

Any way, be brutal - but not mean!

Thanks in advance

Some of fonts do look a bit pixelated, but I don't think it's because of Weebly. Weebly is probably using Google Fonts, so it's most likely a browser issue. I'm using FF on an old XP machine.

I would just add some SEO work to your site. Pretty sure you can do that using Weebly....I helped a friend a few years ago, and we could then.

Thanks.

I've literally done nothing with seo, that's tomorrow night's job (when I understand what it is and how I do it...)

Is there anything I can do about the fonts? If it uses Google Fonts does that mean I could use any font I find on there?

Thanks again for looking

I looked at your source code, and yes, Weebly is using Google fonts. Not sure how they select your fonts. I know Smugmug has a drop-down for all of the Google fonts loaded. In Wordpress, I can add fonts in my `style.css` file.

I know some fonts look better in different browsers. Nothing you can do about that other than trying to pick one that displays good on all of the modern browsers.

Decided to look at your site on Chrome, same monitor/computer. I could hardly read your 'Portrait photographer specialising in babies and children.' on your home page using Chrome. I can read it on FF, but pixelated. Your About page looks better in Chrome than FF, IMO. Its a but darker.

Thanks again for that.

I still haven't got to the bottom of the font issue, although I did make the bit on the homepage a little larger as it was hard to read. I really want to remove that button as I don't want it, not sure how though.

Been through and done some SEO stuff:

Submitted it to Google and Bing
Registered for Google Analytics
Made sure the site and each page has a title, description, and keywords related to actual words in the site/page
Made sure there are links to pages within pages
Changed links that say "click here to blah blah blah" (with "click here" being the link) to "view my portrait packages" (with "portrait packages" being the link)

My brain is hurting but hopefully that will be a good start :)

You can change the font to pretty much anything you want. You're going to have to know a little bit of CSS. I use weebly for my site.

Thanks. I did create a bit of a site before so have a limited knowledge of CSS, it's just incorporating it into Weebly. I've found a lot of stuff from Google though, so will put that on tomorrow's jobs now.

Does Weebly have some kind of captcha for your contact form? If not, the bots will find you and spam you like crazy. I'd check.

Otherwise, it's nice and clean. I like it.

I'll look into it. Thanks.

I've removed the button, so please about that. Changed the font so hopefully it is less 'blocky' now

Much better. I would add your location and what you do on your home page and in the <title> tag.

Planning on juggling around the homepage a little so will add that. The "portrait photographer..." blurb on there not enough?

Will definitely add my location though.

Cheers

I guess I missed that before, but that is fine. I would just try to add in your location on the home page. It helps for visitors and Google. :)

I get the minimalism... but the black and grey colour scheme isn't half depressing. It makes me think more "dull corporate entity" than classic, beautiful photography.
