Anyone ever had any issues with there camera and flash not syncing up?
My 1D MRK III AND MY 580 EX II doesn't seem to work together the flash fires slightly before the camera takes the shot leaving my subjects still dark. Anyone ever have this problem and if so ho do you correct it?

What settings are you using? Full manual, manual camera & ettl flash, auto everything?

What's your shutter speed? If you go over your sync speed (around 1/200 for full-frame, or 1/160 if you're using radio triggers) it ain't gonna work.

Go to your camera's flash control panel, and check that the flash-head icon is showing light being emitted, not just the "z" arrow.

From your description, it sounds like you have Wireless Flash enabled and the Master is set not to fire. That would explain seeing a pre-flash but not actual Sync flash.

Make sure that "Flash Firing" is enabled but also make sure the Wireless functions are disabled.

The 1D Mk III has a very different Flash Menu from the one posted above.

I agree. What you are seeing is the ETTL preflash. Actual flash is set to: OFF.

ok so i tried changing my camera settings to exactly what you suggest (MSOWSUN) with no flash pop in my photos. So I put my 580 ex II on camera in a completely dark room and it works fine. I take the flash off camera where i have it synced with pocket wizards in the same dark room and i get black photographs. no flash in the pictures. the flash still fires and to the naked eye seems to work but when i look at my lcd screen, pitch black... I am about to blow my brains out trying to figure out the problem...

But that's something completely different compared to what you asked in the first post? Did you have a problem with the 580 EX II mounted on the camera as well, a problem that's now solved, or is this different problem the one you were actually asking about the first time, even if you forgot to mention the Pocket wizard equipment at that time?

My mistake if i failed to mention the wizards. I just can't seem to capture the flash when ever it is off camera. whether it is being held by me or on a light stand. like I said before I physically see the flash going off when i take a photo but the timing must be off because I cant see it in my photos

I don't know much about Pocket Wizards, but I see they make a bunch of different products. Which ones do you have?

Is this the first time you are trying to use them? Or have you used them successfully before?
