Hey all,

Managed to capture my first asteroid, using my Sigma 30mm. Images aren't the sharpest or cleanest, particularly the first one. Using my CLS filter, which seems to redden things a little.

Below are two pics, stacks of 10x 7sec subs shot at f1.4, both taken around midnight:

Nice shot Daniel. Looks like some noise reduction might help.

That's something a bit different. Well done.

Steve.

Thanks guys ... haha, yeh not the norm for me. Wanted to get out with the telescope but had to work next day so camera on a tripod and autopilot it was, using timer set to shoot every 2min. Clouds did try to block my view but I won this round, haha.

you must have cropped that a bunch with 30mm. Could you see any movement from start to finish of the session?

Sorry, yes ... massively cropped. Quick glance the other day, no noticeable movement over the hour or so it was in frame, when cloud free. If you have the whole night maybe. My rough calculations or it at 3.5 degrees movement over 8 days (1 arcmin / hour?).

Hey Guys,

Going through my pics for this, found a satellite ( I think ) ... checked Heavens-Above, seems my camera is out by about 3 mins, as such believe I've caught "OKEAN 1":

For those interested, I've put together the timelapses from the two nights, which was 7sec subs, every 2min from 9pm-6am-ish (password for both "pallas"):

25th Feb: http://vimeo.com/88509730 (external link)
5th Mar: http://vimeo.com/88510632 (external link)

Pallas comes into view around 0:20-0:27 in each clip, might comp in some arrows or skycharts to make it clearer as the quality on vimeo isn't as clear as my rendered clips.
