Who has one? I would like to hear testimonials and see any sample images, preferably off a 7D.

This looks like a real gem. I can't wait to hear from someone who has one.

Just got mine yesterday from B&H. It front focuses pretty consistently. Bummed me out, but I ordered the dock from Amazon. Hopefully it fixes it, or else i'm returning the lens.

What kind of realistic shutter speeds can I expect to use with this lens? I've just ordered mine I'm so excited.

That's a bit like asking "what speed does this car drive at". Your shutter speed is going to vary greatly depending on i) the amount of ambient light available, ii) your ISO setting, ii) the aperture you're shooting at, etc. etc.

Unless you are a former force recon sniper I would pick a shutter speed 1.6 times faster than your focal length as a minimum...

Thank you, I knew someone would know exactly what I meant... ;)
What's your personal turn over rate with yours at that speed, I have taken decent shots with other lenses at 1/30th ....

1/30 sec. with a wide angle lens is easy and a high rate of keepers. Roughly 50% keepers at 1/15 sec. and 1 out of 5 or 6 for the rare occasion when I try 1/6 sec. Anything slower than that is mostly luck.

I think this was 1/6 sec. with a Tokina 12-24mm lens: https://www.facebook.com ….574685640&type=3&theater (external link)

There is no Image Stabilization and no flash. I believe I needed 5 shots to get one that was useable.

This is off a 60D, but its the same sensor as the 7D. I love this lens, but it is big and heavy!

This memorial to the Fifty-Fourth Massachusetts at the National Gallery of Art is an 11' x 14' plaster version of the bronze sculpture in Boston. The room was moderately/low lit with directed lighting on the sculpture. This photo was taken hand held in manual mode at 24mm, f/1.8, 1/40, ISO 320 and no flash, from around 10-12 feet away. It was framed to remove the outer fancy scroll work. I was impressed by the amount of sharpness edge to edge at f/1.8 in fairly low light, especially since this is not a flat subject. Col. Shaw on his horse is around 3+ feet closer than the troops marching next to him.
