When I convert into TIFF/JPEG first, the problem disappears. When I work in Lightroom, the RAW files appear okay though. i can be sure it's not the problem with the files itself, because they work just fine on my laptop (with the same software). anyone had the exact same issue before? how do i resolve it? (have tried reinstalling the software but to no avail). thanks!

See this explanation of magenta highlights: http://www.guillermoluijk.com/tutorial/dcraw/index_en.htm Scroll down to the section called "Sensor Saturation Level" if you do not want to read this very informative article about dcraw. kirk Ok, I've seen them before so I figured it might be something similar, thanks for the link. 5DmkII | 24-70 f/2.8L II | Pentax 645Z | 55/2.8 SDM | 120/4 Macro | 150/2.8 IF

They probably use some form of dcraw and the current version of your software may not be up to date with the latest decoding. Did you try updating your software? If it is the latest version, you may just have to wait for the developer to update. kirk thanks for the clue. believe u guessed it right - i'm using the 6D and it's probably not supported by these software yet.
