Having my first bash at people photography. Any comments or criticisms?

It depends on what you were after, but for me, the background in #1 is quite distracting. I think you've chosen a difficult situation to start with people photography - theres so many people around it's hard to get a shot with clearn frame edges and a nice background.

#2 looks a bit underexposed, but that's a bit of a minor issue and adds to the mood, though i think i'd still make it a little brighter. I quite like the shot, but i'd crop off the left to remove what I assume is an adults backside. I think I'd take it all the way to just past that plus socket and see what it looks like

Thank you. I bought the exposure down in PP on the second one. Easily bought up :) Yes, it is a backside. Will edit out.

On the upside, the lighting on both (flash in 1, natural in 2?) is good, and in terms of capturing a moment, both are successful

I was bouncing the flash off the ceiling in the first one. Still messing about with various positions tbh.
