My family is taking a trip to Yellowstone next winter, and we have a full day snowmobile tour. I plan to have either bought or will be renting the new Tamron 150-600 by then. I am looking for a way other then keeping it in my backpack strapped to the snowmobile to carry it and have fairly quick access to the camera.

What would everyones suggestions be. We will aso be doing a good amount of Xcountry skiing and snowshoeing while there.

Clik elite makes several different chest packs. Though their larges is made to fit a body with 70-200 f2.8 attached. Not sure if that would be large enough.

Lowepo toploader prro 75 may be large enough. Lowepro make a chest harness that fits their toploader range.

They look a bit larger then what I am shooting for. I have two backpacks already, I just wanted something a bit quicker. A chest pack can also be used again while hiking during the summer.

Maybe a mindshift pro backpack (has a belt pack that rotates in and out for quick access). Pretty sure that lens would fit in the beltpack attached to camera, but that would be it.

Thinktank holster with harness or backpack connection kit?

Thank you everyone, the Lowpro looks promissing, as well as the Thinktanks. Now to get the lens and mount it up and decide which to go with.

Mindshift pro backpack will barley fit a non-gripped 70d with the Tamron 150-600. How about the cotton carrier? That works very well.

The problem with the cotton is the camera and lens would be left out in the elements, or I would have to store under the snowmobile jacket. 35mph+ in unknown winter conditions does not have me favoring the idea of having it on the outside of my jacket. And possible -20 degree shooting temps back to warm body heat does not have me liking the idea of storing it inside the jacket.

You could cover it up easily. I use various rain covers from Think Tank items when I am going to have my lens out in the elements.

That is true, I have a backpack strap clip system that I made that could work. Will have to test it out with some rain covers I have already and see what I think.
