Does anyone have experience fixing a laptop which is reporting a driver error (code 39) of the keyboard and touchpad ?

Randomly switched on my main laptop and the keyboard and touchpad are just dead. I'm doing a backup right now but not sure if theres much i can do to fix. Thought about looking at the registry, though virus scans have been clean. It checked nearly one million files and nothing..no problems

Win 7 64 bit, driver keyboard for my sony vaio laptop is fully updated 6.1 version. Tried installing an older driver and no go. Tried windows tech support but..uh..yeah. no help there.

USB keyboard & mouse work? If so (from your currently doing checks, probably) look into the error logs to see if anything reported. Right click My Computer, select Manage and view event logs and diagnostics. Not sure what to look for specifically. Check Hardware to verify drivers working.

I'm "guessing" a physical issue if USB attachments working. May need to do a little web search to learn how to disassemble and reassemble the laptop. Inspect and clean contacts, be sure ribbon cables are solid. Keypad light up?

A little searching on the web (Google is your friend) found a lot of this issue reported. Primary fix I found was to run a restore point from well before the date. Run clean up from there.

Good luck!
