For those of you who have attended one of his seminars... Would it be beneficial for a beginner like myself? He's going to be in Phoenix on Wednesday and I was thinking of going but figure I might ask before spending 4 hrs of drive time. :P

Well worth it. But you might be better off to subscribe to NAPP.

I drove 3 hours(one-way) and rented a hotel for the Kelby LIghtroom workshop. You will not be disappointed. I too agree that joining the NAPP or Kelby One is a great investment. I find that I watch the tutorials more than I do TV.

Already subscribed to Kelby One and I'm right there with you on the tutorials. Heh heh :)

Kelby is a photoshop guru, no doubt about it. But as a photography teacher, IMHO he's a cluck. I have read some really dumb things in his photo teaching books. So if the seminar is about PS, yea. If about teaching about photography, no.

When I was still a relative beginner, I got some good things out of his Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It workshop.

I also got some pretty good stuff from Photoshop World, though I don't think I could justify the expense to go every year. Maybe every three or four years.

I've been to two seminars: LR and PS, taught by Matt Koslowski and RC Concepcion. Both fantastic teachers, and I gained a great deal. It was worth the $ and driving an hour each way. But the videos on their training site are really the best, considering they cover EVERYthing the programs do in a step-by-step fashion, and you can watch them and repeat them at your own pace. As a beginner, the subscription to the training videos on their website was absolutely the best value for my dollar and accelerated my use of LR the most.

I think you can find most of the PS stuff he teaches on Youtube, and they are free.

Thanks for all the great advice! I did end up going and took away some knowledge from the seminar. He's quite the storyteller too. lol

Heh! It's funny, I joined NAPP back, gosh, sometime in '07...

Anyway, the '07 Photoshop World conferences came up, one I believe in Florida, but the one closest to me was in Las Vegas, NV, and I was jazzed to go, it not only had Kelby hosting it but plenty of other good offerings by various folks...

But it's funny...besides some nice memories of the conference, what really sticks out: the conference was for 4 full days, which for me meant 5 nights in a motel in Las Vegas, think 5 nights in a casino, and in Vegas you might get to having a lot of late night fun, and I did! But, it didn't take me much time to realize that 5 nights in Vegas is like 3 nights too many:)!
