Johnburgh, in the central Flinders Ranges, is one of many little hamlets that fell into ruin once road transport became regular and reliable.
Here is my little photo essay from a recent visit to the region.

During 1882 the Johnburgh hotel was completed and H. Tremain, its first publican, served his thirsty customers until he was replaced by Henry Reynolds, who also held a slaughtering licence.
