Sigma 85 1.4 question

So, I picked up a Sigma 85 1.4 late last week and had the chance to put it through some light use this weekend. Having tested the lens before I bought it, my initial impression was the copy I got was a good bit softer than the one I tested. I did the Dot Tune method at about 10 feet and got it dialed in at a -15, which seems a little excessive, but that's what MA is for.

Results within that range look pretty good but venturing outside of 10 feet +/- a couple feet, shots begin looking a little suspect again. I may try the Dot Tune again at a few different distances and see if I can come up with a different yet better adjustment.

Curious though, how many of you would keep the lens and how many of you would send it back?

either send it back or send it and the body for some proper calibration

I don't like the dot tune method.

I typically shoot about 200 images and static stuff ranging from MFD to infinity and do focus checks on each to dial in a lens.

Hasn't failed me yet. All my lenses are spot on. Well I haven't done my 300 yet

I checked it at lunch and it's off anywhere other than 8-12 feet. MFD looks to be FF, above 12ft. same thing. In that small range though, it's stellar. Back to Adorama for replacement.
