Man I'd like to go there. If you do go be prepared. My cabin was on deck 8 where I took the photo from and I got lucky as most of the time the albatross were down at sea level and about 50-60 yards out from the ship it was only 3-4 times the were high and close enough to get a shot like that, and they move very fast. My 100-400 was inadequate for the job.

My 100-400 was inadequate for the job. We had one port of call canceled (Puerto Madryn) because of weather (39 ft waves in the Drake passage) and I had a tour of a penguin colony there so we did not get to do that. Also because of the weather our next to last port of call the Falkland Is we did first and there was no one available to do our Penguin tour that we had booked there with us arriving days ahead of schedule. On the up side I was talking to a guy that had done five previous cruises and never got to Antarctica owing to the weather, we got there on this one. Also the scenery in the Beagle channel is breath taking even though there was a lot of low cloud and mist. Cape Horn was out of the world on this day, we arrived at dawn to heavy cloud but the sun was poking through holes in the clouds making shafts of light all around us, even the Capt was impressed. Antarctica was like a pond with Fairley good visibility. I am still working on the photos but there are a couple taken in the Beagle channel at https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1365575 Hope you get fair winds when you go. Sounds like a great trip! Yes its in the plans but not sure when yet. I will pick your brain when I decide.
