40D setting question?

Dear Board,

I purchased a used 40D and when EXIF data is displayed in DPP the previous owner's name is displayed. I'm trying to figure how to change the name to mine and I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

I think you use the EOS Utility program to change this when the camera is tethered to your computer via USB.

I am trying to use the Utility program but I get a message that the program is unable to detect the camera. There is something obvious that I am missing but the program is reading the card in the camera because it is displaying the pictures.

I'll have to keep messing about and see if I can stumble onto the solution.

Can you give a few more details on how you're hooking it up, including at what point you're powering the camera on, etc?

I loaded the disc to my computer and restarted the computer.

I opened the program and connected the camera via USB. I got a message on the camera LCB that it was busy. The program displays all the pictures that are on the CF card but when I click on my camera settings I get the message that it is unable to detect the camera.

I am trying to reinstall the program now.

Bring up EOS Utility with camera attached and turned on. Go into preferences and check the following:

That was the first thing I thought about too.

Dear Board,

I got it working once I reinstalled everything. I did have to also download a new copy of EOS Utility from Canon.USA website to get everything to work though. Thanks for the suggestions and help.
