Another 21 century innovation is appearance of too many very well made Quadcopter Drone with Wifi Camera capable of high quality video and still imaging, real time monitorying or web coverage. These are mostly very easy to control and can be airborne for relatively long time with excellent opportunity: "One of the kind" aerial footage that was not possible to general community in past.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this and which is the best one in general and which is the best buy?
Any help?

I have the DJI phantom. I've been flying rc's for years and this thing is a dream to fly. Such fun footage opportunities. its a all in one kit B&H has crazy deals at times. they now have version 1 and version 2
basically version 1 has 8-12 minute flight times
while version 2 has optional built in camera vs gopro and a flight time of 18-24 minutes

DJI pretty much rules the sky at the moment for usefulness and practicality. You see them everywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx-hWSL9wsU (external link)

Range is about 700 yards
optional video down link makes for first person flying of the quadcopter.

Wow.
Amazing.
Clip shows a wide range of potential effects. Love the reverse motion and funny music/FF at the end.
Truly amazing as how much they can achieve. Length of flight, then ceiling it can reach... All amazing.

DJI phantom.

QUOTED IMAGE

I like the contrast of dronin relation to atmosphere of the image.
Did you try a longexposure, say 10-15 sec or longer exposure with dron's take off or manure in mid air? I would think that makes a totally out of this world image.

Yes they go expensive but then much much lower price than hiring a private helicopter for the footage!

BTW A5forfighting you seem to be knowing well about these marvels of our world, so let me ask few more questions, is this the one you are referring to?

There is a good video clip here too on DJI phantom2.

I see DJI phantom 1 is at half the price. What is missing on them compare to DJI P2?

Also I need to know about cheaper options.
How about Parrot Drone that I believe started it all.
Then the very cheap ones like:

THIS. (external link)
there is a demo video clip here too.
Are these only toy or any real capability? Ad seems convincing of sort of ability.

Manure in mid flight? Are you calling these things crappy? :D

That really is a cool picture. I wonder if the Air Force received a lot of UFO calls.

"Maneuvers" Sorry for the typo and No. You knew what I meant.
Well after total disappearance of this huge airline jet, there is no doubt about UFO calls and alien abduction. I am in for Conspiracy theory...:)

There are basically 2 styles of these. One lets you fly & shoot video & stills, the other lets you do that BUT it also transmits what the camera sees to you & you fly from the pilot seat. That's FPV (First Person View) and costs more due to the extra equipment. You can learn a lot here

Also note many have GPS & can hover in place using it, return to where it took off from & even land themselves.
You can (highly recommended) learn to fly them using a PC based flight simulator which usually pays for itself quickly. There are MAC versions but they are more expensive. These are the 2 most popular

You're not alone in that idea. I've been practicing on my updated Real Flight sim & intend to keep doing so until I decide just how much I'm prepared to spend.

^^^Must agree. First time I saw one flying at night I had no other thought but UFO.

Well this is the best price I have seen for Phatom 2 DJI for $869, No tax and Free shipping:

but unfortunitely this is the GoPro 3 type. May be good for someone that already has GoPro 3. Also by the time you bring it up to First Person View, it will cost the normal deal at least for me but then you can aurgue that GoPro's image quality is better.
