I already have the canon 10-22 and the 35 f2 is I would like something for video and a all around lens worth getting. I don't like that the 10-22 has a aperture off 4.5 at the 22mm so thinking about the 24 2.8 is and the 24 1.4 is to expensive what do think please let me know your thoughts.

the problem with the 24F2.8IS is that it's priced close to the sigma 17-50mm F2.8 OS.... the sigma also does 17-20-24-28-35-50 @ 2.8, and for video having those options is huge. The S17-50 isnt very big or heavy either...

The 24F2.8 would be a nice lens for FF as FF 24-70's are really big and heavy.

If you do a lot of landscape work and want edge to edge sharpness, then yes.
I wouldn't buy a 24mm for just general shooting

What like about the 24 is is the light weight plus I don't like zooms more of a prime shooter

I just realized that you are on a crop, since you are using a 10-22.
Why not just go for the sigma art 18-35 1.8... that is a really good lens.

Heya,

I think you'll find that you're just playing the prime-creep game, where you go from one focal length to another, favoring the wide apertures of primes. But if you're ok with F2.8 on a prime (personally I am not, unless it's a seriously long focal length prime), then F2.8 can be had on a good zoom. So I would suggest at that point that you simply get a zoom with all the focal length options you may want to try. A 17-50 or 17-55 F2.8 series zoom comes to mind. Maybe get one with IS to cover all bases. I think that would be better for your needs.

Very best,
