I was asked to use a 6D

Wandering around LegoLand in California. A guy sees me walking around with a T4i. Comes up & hands me his 6D, could you take a family pic for us. I only took one pic & I love that camera. Gotta save my pennies. Nice quiet & smooth operating camera.

Sounds great. Start filling up that piggy bank.

I know that feeling.

After owning a 350D for years, I had been saving for the 6D for a few months to replace it. While in the middle of saving, I decided to stop in at the local camera shop to try one out. I was amazed at how comfortable it was to hold. That's what probably surprised me the most.

And oh, the shutter is sooo smooth compared to the shutter in the 350D. There just isn't a comparison.

Oh so true. I first fingered a 6D at Best Buy and knew I had to have it. Upgraded from the T1i so it was quite a leap.

Sometimes, 1 click is all it takes.

I had the same T4i camera with kit lens, sold it and bought a 6D body.
Should do it asap. Higher ISO is no problem, opens up so much more opportunities.

Might I suggest upgrading your lenses first? And the 60D/70D feel a lot like the 6D if you want to go try new cameras out

Sounds like I should keep my hands of another man's camera lest I be tempted.

I get what you're saying.

But really, 1 image? You're willing to throw $1500 at something because it's a little quieter and subjectively "smoother?" I would really suggest you pay very close attention to your photographs and whether or not a different camera will even matter. Based on your current equipment, you don't need a new camera at all. That $1500 is way better spent on some much better glass, which will impact your photographs a little more. Not trying to push you away from the 6D at all, by all means, get one if you can afford it, it's a fantastic camera. But I would just suggest that a new camera isn't an ideal priority based on what you currently have.

Before I bought the T4i, I spent a lot of time looking at the 6D. I was debating the Full Frame - Crop subject. I like my pics with what I have, until I get into low light conditions. Looked at flashes as well. Other family members like the video on the T4i & would like a STM lense. I know I'll buy a lens or 2 before I buy a camera body, but that 6D was nice. I'm sure Canon will release several more models before I look at replacing the T4i.

You don't need to qualify what you originally said! This is so typical. An OP states an interest in a certain camera/lens and out come the lecturers. "What a terrible idea"!, "You should do A before B"; "Your gear/photos show that you don't need that new whatever"!

For low light, learn good post-processing technique. Your T4i has a slightly more updated sensor than my 60D.
