It's been awhile since I posted here. Here are few shots from the local wildlife area I took the other day.

Thanks Kevin. These were shot using my 100-400 lens on my 5D3. I also brought my Sony a7r for a few scenic shots of the area. If anyone is interested, here's the set showing a couple more bird shots and the scenic shots too.

The San Jacinto Wildlife Area is between Perris and San Jacinto. Here's a link to it on Google Maps: https://maps.google.com …7224672827108086&t=h&z=14 (external link)

Thanks a bunch. I'm no expert but I believe you're correct. It looks like a Meadowlark to me too.

Oh thanks for letting me know! Im not too far away from there and i never heard of it. I might have to check that out. I see you need a certain Pass to get access to the Wildlife Area?

I actually bought a pass last year for the first time. One day while visiting the area, I mentioned something about the pass to one of the rangers there and he said I didn't need it. I've only been there once this year, the other day, and didn't get a pass.

Lovely series Gene.

Thanks.

Also-
Because of the recent rains, the ponds looked pretty good but as we get into summer weather, they can dry up if you're looking for wetland birds. Predators like hawks are there all the time as far as I know.

Thanks so much for the info! The place looks really interesting. It looks like theres a few ponds and blinds set up as well? I also saw that my fishing pass might gain me access without needing to buy a pass.

Yep, if you have a fishing license, you're all set regardless...and there are blinds at some of the ponds. Next door to the area is a duck hunting club if I recall.
