where to install PS and LR?

Let me start by declaring that I am a hardware novice. Today I have purchased a desktop PC, I have just started to set it up and have now realised that there is probably a way this should be done to allow the machine run at its optimum.

It has 2x 840 Evo series 120gb SSD. One of these has Win7 installed on it and the other is blank. The PC also has a 2tb HDD.

My question is, do I install Photoshop and Lightroom onto the same drive as the operating system and use the other SSD only as a scratch disc?

This is probably obvious to most people but I really am clueless with this stuff.

Programs on the SSD and data on the 2TB HDD. It's a little odd to have two SSD's though. Usually, if there's more than one they are being used together (RAID).

As noted above, that's a seriously bizarre setup; but I'd install the programs on the SSD and put your library on the HDD. As nice, and fast, as they are, SSDs are still not nearly as reliable as HDDs and it would be a shame to have your library go up if one of the SSDs were to shank itself. (We've had two do it the last week at my office; and there's no warning like you'll frequently get when the HDD starts going TU).

Also, if you don't have it yet, get your self a couple of external drives and be sure to regularly back up your library.

I think the scratch disk is best on the same as PS, though I'm not sure how that is with using SSDs

I'd just install everything where the system resides and leave things on default.
