I'm guessing concert and soccer game pics are out of the question.

Seems pretty extreme to me. Was there a recent lawsuit that brought this on?

What? No Hungaroring this year for me?

with as many famous photogs coming out of there (from Kertesz and Brassai to Capa brothers to Sylvia Plachy, just to name a few) this law really makes no sense.

Soon there will be a nice permit ( daily, weekly, monthly) you can buy from the government that will allow you to take street pics.
Of course, I am speaking in hyperbole. But then again.....one never knows, do one?

I'm glad I'm not a street photographer. It's gone even further than in Germany where no one in the picture can be immediately recognizable - the photo of the market in Budapest would be permitted for example but anything with a clear face on it not.

Glad I mostly shoot nature and landscapes.

Originally, I am from Hungary. Don't worry about this. I often go back and never had any problem with taking photos on the street.
