Wedding picture in night rain help

I have a question. I'm shooting the hardest wedding I will have had so far tomorrow evening. The ceremony begins at 5:00 pm, it's indoors in a poorly lit location and on top of that it's going to be raining cats and dogs the entire time. I look at this as an opportunity to get some potentially cool pictures in the rain of the bride and groom. Of coarse this isn't a trash the dress so I'd need to have them under an umbrella. My question is, what to do about lighting. Typically I would back-light them to get some rim light but with the rain I have to also protect my equipment. Has anyone had experiences with this?

Throw a ziploc bag upsidedown over a speedlite (and trigger system) and close it as far as you can so it won't fly off. Problem solved. I always have ziploc zipper freezer bags in my gear bag for this purpose, though I've only been rained out in a wedding twice in the last 10 years. (Commercial shoots are a diff story though)

I do precisely what lloyd does regarding a ziplock (or large plastic bag if that's on the scene). It can kind of be convenient for you to shoot from inside or on the stoop of the building because it means your backlighting flash will be bouncing off of the facade of that building and offering a little fill. Bear that in mind and adjust accordingly (e.g. if you don't want fill, you'll have to go out there with them. Definitely have an assistant or someone else help you as you will not want to be futzing with an umbrella while taking all of these shots.

Lots of companies sell rain covers for camera gear.

Im assuming your from the states so you got access to everything at Bnh.

Otherwise I have left my 600ex flashes in the rain with no problems (off course wouldn't recommend it).

Same as the others - I have a few plastic bags in my camera bag.

Are there no decent places indoors to shoot (since it will be an indoor wedding)? As for protecting your equipment, a really easy (and inexpensive!) way to do that is to use clear shower caps, like what you can find in most hotels. The shower cap has the advantage of an elasticized opening at one end, which means you can just slip it over a flash or a camera-with-short-lens and still have a clear, unencumbered working end as well.

I also use the quart sized plastic bags over my flashes. It has the added advantage of giving it a bit more size, like a 5 cent Gary Fong.

Here's a slightly different style - NOT a wedding picture, instead a promo shot for a Halloween show. Two bare Speedlights on tall stands, just out of frame to the left and right, and behind the subject for bold highlights on the edges and hair. I did not have any sort of main/front light; all the front lighting is just reflection from the ground.

I had one flash out in the rain (covered by my plastic bag) and the other light was an on-camera flash bounced off the wall / ceiling behind me.
