6 or 7 Years ago, I got my hands on some 3/8 thick, aluminum honeycomb material and I made 3 snoots for me and a couple of buddies. I just cut small rectangles and stuffed them into the end of beer coozies.

I still have and use mine all the time, but wanted to go bigger to experiment etc.

Any idea where to get this stuff in quantities beyond the full sheet? You can get larger cell (.75') or smaller, unperforated, or even GIANT cell stuff on ebay, but I haven't found any like this.

I only need about a square foot.

For reference, here is my home made travel snoot.

And here is a demo (No diffuser, stock flash diffuser, snoot)

I ordered my grid stuff from them last year. Plastic, but works great.

Vette, there are four or five aluminum recycling places along NW North River drive, just east of MIA.
You might also call Hialeah Aluminum (2260 W. 76th) to see if they have it or know where to get it.

We have a place about 10-12 miles from my house, called Alreco. I damn near lost control of bodily functions when I first went there... aluminum in every size and shape and form and weight (even 4'x8' blocks, 12" thick!)... suffice to say if I couldn't find the perfect aluminum for my project I probably needed to rethink my project.
Point is, there has got to be someplace within reasonable distance of you that will carry or know how to obtain honeycomb, especially being a coastal city.

disclaimer: I disavow all responsibility if you find one of these places and come up with more photo gear projects to make while looking at their supply.

I have been here a year and have been so focused on the new house (foreclosure, distressed property but damn good location and price) and the COMPLETE remodel, that I haven't even begun to explore the area and learn about my new home!

Thanks for the suggestions! I am sure I will find a few as I finally get out and get to taking some pictures.
