Actually I find highlight and shadow controls better than DPP. As for sharpening. Have you used the export pages output sharpening?

I'm getting into Lightroom a bit more, I can see it's more powerful, whether or not I need all of those options is another question. The noise reduction available in LR is a nice feature. I'll retract the statement about DPP sharpening being better, but I do think it's pretty good. If there is a downside, it's that you don't see it in the raw photo until doing the conversion to JPEG.

That is why it took me 3 free trials before I decided to buy it. Too many years working in PS and being able to see my final sharpened image before saving. I could not get past that. I reminded me of shooting in green box mode. I read about who developed it and went to a local gallery where an award winning photographer uses it exclusively and chatted with him a bit. After a bunch of tests both on screen and at a local printer I decided to go with it. I use it for customer edits. For personal work I use PS.

DPP sharpening is very good. For my purposes it is just missing a final tweak.
