I am looking to purchase a D610 for landscape photography. I run Elements 12 on Vista. Apparently Adobe no longer supports Vista for updates. My question is can I process files fairly easily in the Nikon software and export it to Elements 12? I would hate to purchase another computer just to get the 8.3 plugin. I have given up on Canon producing a better sensor in the near future. Sorry I meant to post this in the Nikon section.

I don't use elements but I think you should be able to save them as TIFF files and import those into elements.

Your best bet is probably just to buy Lightroom 5, which will support the D610. Alternatively, you could use the Adobe DNG Converter to create DNG copies of your NEF files, then load those into Elements. I own a D610 and that's what I do (except I use PS CS5 instead of Elements 12).

If you'd like to double-check that PSE12 can read the D610 DNG files, PM me your email and I can send you a test file.

The Nikon software is pretty rough, coming from the refinement and flexibility of Adobe's software.

Thanks guys I appreciate your responses. I have a friend that has the 610 so I can get a file from him. I am looking forward to trying out the 610 or the 800. It is hard to justify the 800 since this is a hobby for me.

Can you update Vista to WIN7? It is still supported, generally.

I think Vista can be updated. I will be checking that out on Monday. I think the DNG converter may work for me as well. Thanks for your help.
