Should I lose the sky?

This is a 12 shot pano I stitched together (taken at sunrise with the 70-200). I'm going to print it as a 10x20" but am wondering about something here. I'm thinking I should re-crop this image to lose the sky in the upper right corner. What do you think?

It's a tough call. If you crop it at the top, you loose a lot of treetops along the whole shot. Personally, I would leave it- but the sky (and water) could do with a boost in saturation- really give it some punch.

Don't crop it. It feels too cramped with the sky.

The only thing at all wrong with the sky is that it confirms that the color balance is off. The image has too much yellow in the sky and is giving a green cast to the sky. (The sky region measures 168 red, 213 green, and 198 blue. That's clearly too green for sky.

Otherwise, it's a great composition. You got a great vantage point and it makes for a great scenic shot. It looks familiar. Isn't this on the Potomac near Great Falls?

I think the sky balances the composition a bit. If it were mine, I'd keep it. Nice shot.

Your vanishing point (top right), is balanced by the dissappearing river in the left foreground. They balance and they force one's attention from one to the other.
The only thing that might make the shot more outstanding would be a Bear fishing in the stream.
Excellent composition and no, leave it alone.

Yes, this was taken on the VA side of Great Falls Park. I love the idea of a bear in the water, but knowing the area it isn't something I'd ever expect to see! I can only wish!

Seems like your levels are off - too warm.

Yes I agree I held a card up to my monitor to block out the sky and it just seems to make the picture jump right out at you nice shot.

Now that I see it cropped, I'm even more convinced that you should leave it in - it adds to the depth (with the sky, there is a greater feeling of 3-dimensionality).

I was going to head down to Great Falls Park yesterday and get some snow shots, but work got in the way.

FWIW, here are a couple of pictures I took there in late 2004. Although the first one has its flaws, I like it for the tiny kayaker, visible toward the bottom of the image, and just right of center. The second one I just like, period.

I'm also hoping to get to Rocks State Park later this week, and do some waterfall pictures there.
