Hey all...

As i posted a few days ago, I had to sell my mark iii for some funds for car repairs. First off my car is now fixed and back on the road. Maybe i should sell that thing too! Lol

I now am really missing my camera, missing taking pictures of the sunsets that we have here etc... Still at this moment I cant afford to get another mark iii so i have been looking at alternatives.

-i really do not want to go back to a crop sensor cause i like the low light performance of full frame.
-i would like a simple kit to start off and slowly build it up properly this time!

Im getting my tax return back and am getting close to $2000, as long as the wife doesnt see it, it will be going to some gear.

My thoughts: 5d mark ii, 24-105 to start and later pick up a 135L for the long end. I can pick up a 5d and 24-105 kit here for around 1500-1700. 135L for around 750.

Any suggestions and comments welcome.

Thanx for reading

I have all my stuff except for the lenses and body. I dobt want to stray from Canon bc my flash and other accessories all are for the 5d series. I was thinking about the sony a7 but honestly i like the feel of the big 5d bodies.

If you can push your budget a bit, I'd take a 6D and 24-105 over the 5DII. Better IQ, better AF, and more features.

When you get the first bill, put down that $2,000.00 from your taxes, Pick up a lil Overtime on the job here and there! or use the money that you make from taking photos to pay your bill. Enjoy Your New Camera!:D

A lot of people don't realize it but best buy has a lot of 1-2 Day Unadvertised Deals. I got my 5D mkIII for $2999.99 about a month ago. That is also how I got my 7D for a fantastic deal 2 1/2 years ago.But obviously you have to check the best buy website FAITHFULLY (Darn near everyday) in order to catch them. Good Luck!

I say go for a 6D. How fast/accurate does AF need to be, for those amazing sunsets? ;)

I had a 5D III and a 6D. Recently, I sold the 5D III like the OP to raise some funds to put towards a new car. I kept the 6D since I don't shoot action (mostly portraits). I hated to let the 5D III go, but the 6D seems to be doing well for me so far. For $2K, I would go for the 6D and 24-105.

Either don't settle for a downgrade and save up for a 5D III body, or get a 6D and keep it.

Might sound silly, but you could always pick up a 5Dc to hold you over... until you can save for what you want again (and still have the FF goodness). :)
