Ok, so after my 24-105 and 135 showed up last week my bag has gotten pretty crowded. I have an extra carry-on roller suitcase that I think would make a good case but it would obviously need a padded insert. Any idea where to pick one up that would fit a carry-on suitcase?

Depends on the size of the suitcase, but you could see about fitting the pelican padding in there. http://www.amazon.com …ords=pelican+1510+padding (external link)

Like Ratjack mentioned , depends on the interior size . I just bought this one for my carry on and it fit perfectly . Like if it were made to order . Love it ! http://www.amazon.com …o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (external link)

Should have figured pelican would make them. Thanks. Those look like they'd work. How about the pick and pull type foam pads?

They sell those as well.

I guess I should have posed my question differently; what's your guys' opinion on the pick and pull foam pads? Better than the padded inserts?

Depends on what you're looking for. The foam is much more secure but it is rather limited to a specific configuration once you pluck it. If you should change your gear or wish to reconfigure it differently you would have to buy new foam or try to work with what you have. The foam also takes up more space around the equipment so you won't be able to pack as much gear in your case. That is why the padded inserts are my preference. They are much more flexible and allow you to change as your gear changes while still offering enough protection. Just my 2 cents...

Hmmm. Valid point about being stuck with the configuration and not being able to change it. A point I hadn't considered. Thanks. I think you may have just made up my mind.
