This store in MTL are getting rid of the 7D with also a grip and extra battery and a bag!(the grip, bag and battery is worth apprx $350).
They advertise it in the front page as a liquidation.
I was wondering if this usually means that a new camera is coming, in the same category
such as a new 7D2.

I guess we have to wait and see.
But will all the rumours lately, it makes sense.
I need another camera to compliment my 6D

It seems to be one of the longest running models, next to the 1DsIII. All other model lines seemed to have successors issued under 4.5 years.

Roughly outlining the cycles:
- Rebels are on an annual program.
- xxD are on a 1.5 year program other than the 60D, which was about twice that cycle.
- 5D and 1D series were on a 3 year cycle, minus the 1DsIII.

Great for who us or Canon? :D

So glad I can just survive with a 300mm on a ff.
Otherwise I would be tempted by a 7DII ( assuming it does AF video and has a stunning new sensor ) as a back up and reach body.

Mind you with Sony pushing out stuff like the A7R at super prices from a buyers point of view, this might just make Canon ship them out at reasonable-ish prices.

Well here in the UK, Canon are doing a £100 cashback on the 7D up until May, so perhaps they are trying to move a few more units prior a new 7D2? In fact at the Photography Show early this month they were also doubling that cashback for any 7Ds bought at the show. Would have loved to been able to get to the show for that!

At the link you provided, I don't see any grip being mentioned. What I do see for CAN$1249 is the body, and for "free" a Canon BG-E7 battery (not sure about compatibility, and an"accessory" kit consisting of the LP-E6 battery and a LowePro bag.

If it does mean a 7DII, I'll be eating crow. My bet was that they abandoned that line. For all you 7D shooters, I'll be happy to have been wrong.

BG-E7 is the battery grip.

A Canon rep said they were going to make one, but that was some time ago.

If they put in the Reticular AF from the 5d3, bump up the FPS a bit, and do dual slots, I am sure there is a market for it. My thought though is that it will use the 70D's sensor.

My pricing guess would be $1799 body only.

I hope there is one and it is awesome, it just wouldn't be for me, 1200 is about my limit on a body and the 70D is perfect for my all around needs.

Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

I think it would be higher than that, that is only $100 more than the old 7D, it would probably $200-300 more the original list price, I would expect.

Considering you can pick up new 5D3 for 2600-2900 right now the 7D2 better start off 1,000 less. I'm thinking 1800. Puts you right in the middle of the 5D3 and the 1099 70D

Right now I'd think they will keep the 19 point AF. Bump to 10fps. Dual card, wifi and a 24mp sensor. This will put them in line with the nikon/sony offering as top of the line aspc and give it a better jump in the FPS department along w/ the new bells and whistles in the software department.

and the high iso has to pick up to be a tad better than 70D.
