Hey Folks,

I'm having issues with the Canon 35mm 1.4. Focus is just not hitting correctly. I'm shooting with a 5d miii.

I whipped up a quick controlled test to see what ya'll thought, maybe I'm crazy. See image below and let me know if you think the 35mm 1.4 is not focusing correct or not sharp enough.

This is a screen shot from lightroom, straight from the camera. I have the camera on my table the closest it can be and focus. The left is the 35mm 1.4 the right is the 85mm 1.2. Both pics same settings (100 iso, 1.4 and 1.2 respectively):

Thanks for any input. ;)

It's generally not the best idea to test focus at or near the minimum focus distance. Try an object a bit further away. I think the rule of thumb is like 50 to 100x the focal length or something (don't quote me on that). So, try testing AF at an object that is roughly 2 to 3m away. If your focus is consistently off one way or another, you can correct the problem with AF micro adjust. If the focus is inconsistent, you'll need to do some more trouble shooting.
